The Great Ozzie Winter
Some few weeks into winter now.

Dealing with the cold pretty good now. Quite an acomplishment for the girl who used to shiver in Malaysian air conditioned spaces, don't you think?

My only problems with winter are, the lack of daylight and dressing up in winter.

The biggest motivation for me not to sleep in on my free days would be so that I can get some sunshine. If you understand my love for sleep, you could probably comprehend that I'm really really desperate for sunshine now. Never freaking mind if I get my tan back. (In fact, I'm turning ugly yellow, which is not as nice as golden brown)

Looking nice in winter is rather a challenge, since I have absolutely no fashion sense to begin with and have a body of odd proportions. Shopping for clothes in Melbourne hasn't been a fun experience since most of the times, I'm smaller than XS. To add to that trouble, warm clothing is usually thick, bulky and ugly. But still proud to declare that my short (relative to my height) legs' best partner, minishorts a.k.a. hot pants are still making regular appearances. And oh, since you people would not stop accusing me of ogling at the boys, I'll just have to agree that in winter, scantily dressed hunks are difficult to come by.....

In the month that my blog has been quiet:

I went into the great Monash exam rush. Something special that's worth mentioning here is that at Monash Clayton, you get to sit your exams at the Caulfield Racecourse (if you're unlucky- I say unlucky because travelling all the way to Caulfield is quite a hassle). And if you get lucky, your seat will just overlook the actual racecourse. Magnificent.

Exams? Not so magnificent! Karma really caught up with me and paid me back for all those classes that I missed/stared blankly at the lecturer/played sudoku. Some of those papers were made to fail people (ahh, I know you got the HD, shaddap) and there was another that was pretty easy, but overwhelmingly tedious, not the kinda paper that you give someone 3 hours to navigate. Results? A whole new chapter in my life that I'll have to discuss later.

At this point, you've probably ingested a lot of words from me and I would recommend that you take a break to aid digestion and come back another day, because I predict I'm going to be quiet for a while again, after this post.

After exams fun kicked off with a proper dinner (proper dinner means dinner not cooked by myself and not bought from mess hall) and a Transformers 2 movie outing. As usual, plot thickens in sequels but filming and graphics quality gets poorer. It looks like a hell lot of metal getting mashed up. But I liked the corny jokes. And Megan Fox, I'm surprise that with that level of hotness, she hasn't turned into ashy Megan Fawkes. But yeahlah, she only seems to look good in Transformers.

After that it was just lazing around and heading out to nearby places until the great Sydney adventure courtesy of Organisers Chun Wei, Kelvin and Chee Hong. TERIMA KASIH!

As not to bore you with more words, I'll let the pictures talk a bit.

The only real problem with our trip was that it kept raining. So my memories of Sydney are filled with me walking around Sydney in wet clothes.

As you can see here, my romantic morning round trip ferry ride Darling Harbour-Circular Quay, turned out to be a super drenched business.

Blue Mountains. Also raining and heavily misty. Not even able to see the famous Three Sisters rock formations. This is the Witches leap. Spot the face like structure.

But by night, Sydney comes alive with lights! Our nights were basically spent strolling around Sydney's landmarks while stopping for chocolate. If you go to Sydney, please make sure you try Guylian chocolate drinks.

And guess who we bumped into at Bondi?

The boys sunning out at UNSW. One of the few sunny times we had.....

We crossed the Anzac Bridge just to get to very good Seafood.

Ahh, wonderful times..........

After Sydney trip, it was more faffing around and a lot of working out at the gym, to make up for the gluttony and lack of exercise in Sydney.

And talking about exercise, my jogging partner is back in Hong Kong now. I am now a proud owner of a HKU athletics team singlet but have lost my reliable jogging company =). Best wishes!

Then came Thursday, which started out like just any other day. At 7.30 pm, a confident, sweet smiling face heads into the gym, and has a really good workout.

Less than two hours later, the same face, left the gym abruptly, not even finishing the work out as planned.

Welcome to life, Jia Yeng.

I sort of came to uni with only one wish. To complete the degree without having my parents pay for it. It's simple. I get the scholarship, do all I can to maintain it. Bingo, well done. Money saved. Honours guaranteed.

In that short moment that I found out that not only I did not manage a distinction for one of my units, I only managed to PASS it, without the bloody CREDIT. It's obviously a screw up even the 98 score for another subject could not save.

In short, my average score dropped below what I'm supposed to maintain. What Monash is going to do about this, is still everybody's guess.

That was the biggest heartbreak of my life.

I was in a wreck. I went at least 35 hours without sleep because I couldn't bring myself to fall asleep after the boys left for ski trip coming back from the Nott (the pub with uni nights on Thursdays). I bet you couldn't either, if you just found out that you lost a hell lot of money (on your parents behalf), were tipsy and alone.

Fortunately, the family and friends did help to console me, some way or another. Big thank you.

Also to someone, who did so much for me, seeing me through this mess, I couldn't thank you more.

So after that severe period of sleep deprivation and loss of appetite, I decided to join a day trip up to Mt St Gwinear to ski cross country. Only second time seeing snow in my life.

Boy, it was hell of a fun day. Gwen and I got driven in a BMW up the mountains, and basically had a lot of fun falling down in the snow. I must say skiing is overrated. I really don't like hanging around with clumsy skis attached to my feet.

The mountain air must have cured me. Definitely decided if I had to lose that smile along with what I had already lost, that would have been a terrible pity.

So I'm back in uni now, with a vengence. *grrr*

Week 1 was one hell of a week. I'm so going to hate my Mondays and Tuesdays. No fun....

But such is life...........
